The Baloch separatist groups, BLA, UBA and BLF had called for a strike. The groups originally wanted a shutter-down strike from May 5th to May 11 but then reconsidered the decision. The strike was eventually scheduled for May 9 to May 11. Given below is the image of a market in Quetta, showing that the strike has indeed started to take effect from today.

According to our field monitors, people are generally fearful of these developments and the voter turnout may be severely affected. Another reason for this is that BLF has warned people not to vote. It has threatened to kill anyone who came out to vote on May 11. FC and police has been deployed all around the city and are on high-alert.
