The election team monitored news from television, social media (Twitter and Facebook) and Newspapers.  Violation of code of conduct was the constant trend that included poster sizes and the association of local and district government with the election candidates. In relation to the violation, service delivery is also not allowed however the Mayor of Faislabad was reported to work on a road at night time so as to boost his brother’s campaign who is contesting for the elections. An investigation is launched against the Mayor on complaints of the district commissioner.

In view of violations, IG Punjab Syed Kaleem Imam also reported cases of violations in Punjab which were numbered to be 4,589 out of which 949 were workers of PTI, 1512 of PML-N and 251 of PPP.

An upward trend was also observed in women/ gender category as Fifi Haroon, a journalist called out to Radio Pakistan for not including a woman candidate in their twitter cover photo. Women were also seen protesting against Sajila Leghari, a PPP candidate on her visit to Dadu. However she asked the votes to turn on their phones and start chanting slogans in support of PPP to which they agreed.

Jibran Nasir, famous rights activist and an independent candidate posted a video on Facebook where he was being asked by a person to clarify his faith on which he replied that he doesn’t use religion to get votes.

An unfortunate incident was also reported from Peshawar where Qari Syed Alam spokesperson for former MNA Shahjee Gul Afridi was killed when unknown men opened fire on his vehicle.
